Green Pass communication

Starting from August 6, 2021, visitors will be able to access the Pompeii Archaeological Park only after showing the super green pass certification (3 shot vaccine) in compliance with law decree n. 105 of 23 July 2021. The COVID-19 green certification is not required for children under the age of 12, not included by age in the vaccination campaign.

The Archaeological Park of Pompeii, in collaboration with the Campania Region - ASL 3 Naples, will activate a station for the administration of rapid antigenic swabs and relative certification.

Reopening of the Porta Marina Superiore entrance and abolition on closing day

In order to facilitate and limit entrances from 7 June 2021, the entrance of Porta Marina Superiore will reopen to the public in addition to the already operational gates of Piazza Esedra and Piazza Anfiteatro. As per instructions, always from day 7 until new communications, the site will always remain open, without closing days. All previous communications on limited entries remain unchanged.

Archeological site of Pompeii summer re-opening

A good news that the world of tourism has been waiting for is the reopening of the Pompeii excavations which will take place from 27/04/2021 following the yellow zone declared in the Campania region. It will be possible to enter from the entrances of Piazza Esedra and Piazza Anfiteatro from Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 to 19:00 (with last admission at 17:30) while Monday will be the weekly closing day until 07/06/2021. The entrance will be available every 15 minutes for up to 500 people. However, the anticovid rules already applied last January remain unchanged. In addition, you can walk inside according to a defined itinerary of the amphitheater and admire the exhibition "Venustats. Grace and beauty in Pompeii "and have access to the main houses and attractions located on Via dell’Abbondanza.

Reopening of the archaeological excavations of Pompeii

From Monday 18 January 2021 there will be the reopening of the Pompeii site. The opening hours will be from 9:00 to 15:30 for entrances with a general exit at 17:00. In this phase of gradual reopening, access and exit to the archaeological area of Pompeii will be possible from the gate of Piazza Anfiteatro. The visit will develop along a path marked within the site in order to ensure a safe visit to the site and in full compliance with anti-Covid health provisions. It will be possible to walk inside the Amphitheater, access the large gymnasium and the exhibition “Venustas. Grace and Beauty in Pompeii ". You can visit the Praedia of Giulia Felice and move on via dell'Abbondanza with access to the main domus, but also cross the necropolis of Porta Nocera, the Garden of the fugitives, arrive at the theater district and the triangular forum. From via dell’abbondanza, you can also reach the Forum with all its public and religious buildings, visit the external space of the Stabian Baths or go up via Stabiana to via del Vesuvio where you can admire the house of Leda and the swan. Visitors will be subjected, upon arrival, to temperature measurement using a thermoscanner. The use of the mask in closed and open places remains mandatory, regardless of interpersonal distance. All information relating to the safety measures for the containment of the SARS-COV 2 contagion and how to visit will be provided to visitors through the monitors present at the entrances and the signs. The visit will take place in full compliance with the spacing measures envisaged by the Technical Scientific Committee, also with the support of directional signs specially installed by the Park.

Gabriel Zuchtriegel new manager of the archaeological excavations of Pompeii

A warm welcome to Gabriel Zuchtriegel, the new director of the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, was given in these days following the designation of the minister of culture Dario Franceschini. The new Italian-German director has barely 40 years old and will replace the previous director Massimo Osanna, who recently passed to the general management of the Mibact Museums. Graduated with honors in archeology, Zuchtriegel had previously been director of the Archaeological excavations of Peastum, reporting excellent results that assured him the full confidence of the minister regarding the new designation for Pompeii.
